Description
Amla, commonly known as Indian gooseberry, is a deciduous tree from the Phyllanthaceae family. Its fruits are rich in ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and are nearly round in shape, light greenish-yellow in color, smooth, and firm in texture. The taste of amla is distinctly sour, bitter, astringent, and the fruit is naturally fibrous. Native to the subtropical regions of South Asia, particularly India, Phyllanthus emblica is available in various forms such as fresh fruit, dried fruit, powder, TBC, capsules, and extracts.
