Description
Haritaki, also known as Black Myrobalan or Chebulic Myrobalan, is a species of Terminalia native to India. Commonly called Harad or Haritaki in India, it belongs to the Combretaceae family. The tree produces small, ribbed, nut-like fruits that range in color from yellow to orange-brown. After harvesting, the fruits are carefully shade-dried for several days until the moisture content drops below 10%.
Highly valued in Ayurveda, Haritaki has been regarded as one of the most important medicinal herbs since ancient times. It is a key component of the famous Ayurvedic blend Triphala, traditionally used for digestive health, constipation, kidney function, eye care, sore throat, and colic pain relief.
