Kalmegh (Andrographis paniculata)

Kalmegh, an important herb in Ayurveda, is a herbaceous annual plant from the Acanthaceae family, native to India and Sri Lanka. Every part of this erect plant is intensely bitter in taste. It is also called ‘Bhui-neem’ because, despite its smaller size, it resembles the Neem plant and shares a similar bitterness. Traditionally, Kalmegh has been used to address various health concerns and is regarded as a natural remedy for strengthening the immune system.
